ABOUT | Tully John & Liza-Jane

Few songwriters can take an audience on a journey quite like Gold Coast duo Tully John & Liza-Jane, and even fewer can transport them to the bliss of their latest pop-folk laced single ‘Embers'

Delicately layered and sincerely crafted, ‘Embers’ contrasts expansive guitar and piano tones with intimate, soothing melodies to create a naturalistic wonderland of ease and joy. Inspired by the likes of Damien Rice and Bon Iver, their sound shares a similar powerful sound which resonates far beyond that of a two-piece.

Weaving in traces of love and loss, the duo explore the vulnerability one faces in relationship, and the turmoil experienced when there is a disconnect. “The song begins with two souls divided before they begin to interweave and come together again. In the end it is a song of resolution and solace,” Liza-Jane explains, “The ember is the hope to which we cling when things are just a bit wobbly.”

Forming after a chance meeting at a local music venue, the pair established a love of music from an early age. Having supported the likes of Mat McHugh (The Beautiful Girls) and Bob Evans, the pair unveiled their debut EP Wonder in 2017, alongside their own sold-out headline shows across South East Queensland.

With more music planned for the rest of 2019, Tully John & Liza-Jane’s crusade to warm the hearts of Australia is just beginning!

"The different voices never clash, but accompany and balance each other over the indie and folk-filled resonances." --- 4zzz FM

“Local ambient-folk duo Tully John and Liza-Jane have recently emerged from their cabin studio to bestow their gorgeously crafted, ethereal sounds upon local musical audiences.  ‘Dust’ (single off their debut Wonder EP) is a gorgeously emotive slice of swirly folk goodness.” --- Blank, Gold Coast
