Forerunners of the explosion in popularity of Brazilian music in Australia, The View From Madeleine's Couch has for 21 years, passionately embraced their love for bossa nova, samba and Brazilian jazz, and shared it with audiences around the country and in Brazil.
Led by the beautiful sonic pairing of Kym Ambrose, (vibraphone) and Anje West (voice/percussion), the band holds a unique place in the Australian contemporary world and jazz scenes; there is simply no other band that sounds like this.
“We left your show spellbound! There is magic all around you guys...thank you again for creating such incredible music” - Deb McMenamin, Brisbane Jazz Club audience
During April and May, the band will perform with very, very special guest, Brazilian drumming master, Marcio Bahia, who is regarded as one of finest drummers in the world.
Marcio's friendship with Kym and Anje goes back to 2004, when an accidental meeting in a drum shop in Rio de Janeiro eventually led to years of collaboration and guest appearances together in Brazil and Australia. This is a rare opportunity to see an incredible international artist in an intimate concert space.
